FEATURED: ELLE DECORATION

Our recent feature in Elle Decoration: The Best Bespoke Furniture Makers in the UK — bravo!

We’re thrilled to see Galvin Brothers featured in Elle Decoration this month. You’ll find us in ‘The Best Bespoke Furniture Makers in The UK’ shortlist.

Feature: Made to Measure

We continue to be extremely flattered by interest from writers and design lovers around the world. So naturally, it was a pleasure to chat to Elle Decoration about the brand.

Building on decades of experience and craftsmanship, we discuss what it means to design and craft furniture with consideration to people and the space it will inhabit.

We reflect on the new meaning our furniture takes on, once stories, memories and life ensues in their new home. We like to think our pieces are future heirlooms, handmade to last for generations.

‘It’s comforting to know that you have a unique piece of furniture that is special in its material and narrative, that is designed carefully and made with the dexterity and wit of fine craftsmanship.’ Matthew Galvin, Elle Decoration

We work collaboratively with clients, from selecting raw materials, observing milestones in production, right through to installation.

‘It also allows us to design and create something that has its own unique language and a conceptual narrative that connects it to the client. Often, we select special, rare and beautiful timbers to create something very distinct.’  Matthew Galvin, Elle Decoration

As our brand grows, our approach remains steadfast; to create well made furniture with simple forms and with an eye for detail — designed and manufactured with the best materials entirely in the UK.

NEW NARRATIVES: SPLIT TURNED BENCH

At its heart, the Split Turned Bench is an exercise in large-scale wood turning, carefully laminated timber shaped into a voluminous, rhythmic seat surface that ripples from one end to the other. It shows how far the process can be pushed, both technically and visually.
